Dog Movie Post

Dogs rate their most and least favorite movies

Depending on the way the streets are laid out in a particular neighborhood, dog walkers and the dogs they walk can fall into an overly familiar routine.

We will often try to change things up, which usually just involves a short car ride to a park or the beach. Fort Monmouth is a good place too. “The Fort” has lots of big open spaces and not much car traffic.

If your dog likes World War (I and II) or “Cold War” history, they will find a stroll through the various sections of the Fort very interesting.

Another way to change up a walk is to shift the conversation away from smells and the constant “what’s in your pocket?” question, (“a treat for later, stop asking”) to more stimulating subjects.

Dogs watch a lot of movies, so they often have strong opinions about what they like and do not like. So, “What are your favorite and least favorite movies?” is usually a good conversation stimulator.

Below are answers from some of our dog customers.

What are your most and least favorite movies Calvin and why?

Calvin’s Most Favorite Movie: The Pink Panther.

The Pink Panther has the single best scene with a dog of any movie I have ever seen.

It’s the scene when Inspector Clouseau says to the hotel desk clerk, “does your dog bite?”, and the clerk says “no”, and Clouseau goes to pet the dog and the dog bites him.

Then the Clouseau says, “I thought you said your dog doesn’t bite” and the clerk says, “that’s not my dog.”

Classic. I always laugh.

Calvin’s Least Favorite Movie: Home Alone.

It’s basically about my worst nightmare.

What are your most and least favorite movies Duke and why?

Duke’s Most Favorite Movie: Air Bud – Seventh Inning Fetch

I love playing ball. It is pretty much what I live for, and I am pretty good at it. That a dog, like me, can play professionally for the California Angels is very inspiring.

Duke’s Least Favorite Movie: Dog Day Afternoon.

I do not know who came up with the title for this movie, but who ever did owes me the two hours I wasted watching it.

I thought it would be about a dog having a great day. I saw none of that. I saw people having a miserable day. If there was even one dog in the movie I never saw it because it put me to sleep.

What are your most and least favorite movies Chip and why?

Chip’s Most Favorite Movie: The Incredible Journey.

I like long walks. I don’t know if I could walk 250 miles like Bodger the bull terrier, Lauth the Labrador and that cat, but just knowing that dogs can walk that far is invigorating when I go for walks around Oceanport.

Chip’s Least Favorite Movie: Terminator.

There are several scenes in the movie when a humanoid looking robot arrives to wreak havoc and the dogs are always the first to sense that the “humans” are in fact metal robots. Robots are terrifying and so is the movie.

Me: “Like the robot we saw mowing the front lawn on Main Street in Oceanport on one of our walks?”

Chip: “Yes. Remember I made you cross the street because it started to attack.”

Me: “It was a Roomba for the lawn. I don’t think it was attacking us.”

Chip: “I don’t care. I don’t like Robots.”
